The Knights are a close-knit family who do things together, encourage the arts, and stay active in mind and body. They are all lovable individuals and I am proud to say that I’m related to this fantastic 4!
We agreed to meet at Sherwood Oaks Park in Bloomington, IN for their family photoshoot. They brought their new puppy Capt. Jack along, who I was super excited to meet!
We walked around the park desperately searching for enough shade to cover their faces from the rays. The sun was ultra bright that day, and since the trees hadn't bloomed out yet the bare branches didn't provide much coverage. I LOVE the sunshine, but it does make everything a bit more challenging when taking portraits! We managed to find a few areas of shade under shelters, around playground equipment, and with the use of my reflector.
This is a good time to add how thankful I am for owning a reflector. This large piece of photo equipment saved me from passing up some really neat locations because of full sun exposure.
*I also have to give a shout out to my mom for struggling so hard to hold the reflector up high enough to block the rays, while standing over a rocky/muddy creekside!*
If I haven’t said it before, photography isn't just about having a subject and clicking a shutter button. Besides navigating the landscape and getting the correct camera settings, you sometimes have to encourage your subjects.
Little Eliyah was not super excited to get his picture taken that day. Especially since all he wanted to do was play and run freely in the woods. (Totally understandable for a boy his age). Fortunately, his parents managed to get a few sweet smiles from him while I quickly snapped the moments. Big brother, Josiah, however, had no problem cheesin' for the camera! (Capt. Jack didn’t seem to mind either) :D
I am glad I got to spend a few fun hours catching up with this sweet family, and I am pleased to share some photos from their session!
